Features that make life easier for anyone used to dealing with OCR files are:
- The ability to specify the maximum number of text files per output directory.
- The ability to specify how many consective errors trigger the program to halt. This addresses the MODI library's occasional propensity to hang.
- Fire and Forget - start the process and let it run. It locates all the tiff files recursively and puts the output where you specify.
The text quality is on par with the text emitted from the market leading desktop OCR programs. MicroSoft licensed ScanSoft OCR technology from Nuance in 2001. The text is not formatted, but when used in databases for full text search purposes, this doesn't matter.
