My Personal videos
Adobe Media Player lets you browse and manage video content stored on your hard drive. You can add files to Personal Videos where they will appear as thumbnails. Supported video codecs include Sorenson Spark, On2 VP6 or H.264.*
HD video and high quality audio
Adobe Media Player features HD-quality playback, with support for industry-standard H.264 and On2VP6 video codecs, encoded with HE-AAC or MP3 audio codecs.
Intuitive navigation
Navigating in Adobe Media Player is similar to clicking links in a web browser. A persistent navigation bar at the top of the window gives you controls to navigate through the interface, go back to a previous page, and to return to the Start Screen. Keyboard navigation can also be used to navigate and control video playback.
Content discoverability
Search functionality allows for easy exploration of available content. Quickly find the shows you want to see using keywords or tags.
Contextual, optimized advertising
Adobe Media Player helps build revenue for content producers and advertisers by integrating banner ads, prerolls, postrolls, and bugs that relate to the video metadata and viewer preferences.
Favorites badge
Content publishers can place a custom-branded Adobe Media Player favorites badge (e.g. Add to Favorites, or Add to Adobe Media Player) on their websites. When a visitor clicks the favorites badge, Adobe Media Player automatically launches and adds the show to their My Favorites area.
If Adobe Media Player is not yet installed, the viewer will be prompted to install it, and the show will then be added to their Favorites. As an added feature for publishers, new installations prompted by a Favorites Badge link can be installed with a branded start screen, preloaded favorites and other custom configurations.
Control playback size
Video scaling options (full window, full-screen, actual size, scale up) allow you to optimize your viewing experience.
Auto-downloading
Adobe Media Player periodically checks for new episodes of shows you’ve added to My Favorites and downloads them to your computer. These shows are then available to watch, regardless of whether or not you are connected to the Internet.
OS-specific behaviors and notifications
You can now set Adobe Media Player to launch on system startup, and even minimize it, allowing it to run in the background. You’ll even get notifications when new episodes have been added to the catalog and ready to watch.
Hardware scaling
Adobe Media Player supports hardware scaling on Mac OS and Windows. Hardware scaling is a new Adobe Flash® Player software feature that allows Adobe Media Player to use the video card in your computer to provide smoother, higher-quality video playback when viewing in full-screen mode.
Continuous play
The Continuous Play feature allows you to watch episodes of a show in the New Episodes list in succession. As one episode ends, the next episode for that show begins virtually without a break, even when watching in full-screen mode.
Resume play
When you navigate away from a video during playback, and then navigate back to it, the video will resume playing where you left off.
Content flagging
To help filter out inappropriate or illegal content, shows can be flagged by viewers. Flagged content is reviewed by Adobe Media Player administrators, and flagged feeds may be disabled.
Audience measurement
By default, Adobe Media Player anonymously measures Adobe Media Player usage and returns this data to Adobe. Viewers can opt out of audience measurement statistics. (Some content publishers may require that measurement be enabled to view their content.)
Content protection
Encrypt streaming video through Adobe® Flash Media Server 3 (FMS3) software and its RTMPE protocol. You can also secure downloaded video through content integrity verification between Adobe Media Player and FMS3, or through identity-based licensing. Adobe Flash Media Rights Management Server allows you to digitally sign your content, protecting both downloadable and streaming video.
